One of our favorite activities to do with our older daughter is go to orchards and farms. If you’re looking for a destination within 15-60 minutes of Boulder, these are some of the best options.
Ya Ya Farm & Orchard

Ya Ya Farm and Orchard
Ya Ya Farm & Orchard is known for its heirloom apples, family-friendly atmosphere, and beloved fall traditions. A favorite Front Range destination, the farm offers U-pick fruit, fresh apple products, farm animals, scenic mountain views, and a picturesque setting for weddings and special events.
The farm traces its roots to the late 1800s and today encompasses approximately 8 acres with nearly 1,000 fruit trees. While heirloom apples are its signature crop, the orchard also grows pears, plums, cherries, grapes, raspberries, and blackberries. The farm follows natural growing practices but is not certified organic.
U-Pick Experience
Ya Ya Farm is best known for its seasonal U-pick offerings, though reservations are often required and typically sell out well in advance.
U-Pick fruits include:
- Apples: July through mid-October
- Pears: September through October
- Cherries: Early July
Reservations for the current year's U-pick season open January 1 via email.
Things to Do Without a U-Pick Reservation
Even if U-pick reservations are unavailable, visitors can still enjoy many of the farm's attractions:

U-Pick Experience
Berry Patch Farms offers a variety of seasonal U-pick crops throughout the growing season:
